I ordered a refurbed Onkyo TX-SR674 from ubid last week and think I may have a dud. Either that or I just can't figure out how to correctly work this thing. I am hoping someone who has the same device will be able to help me out.
First, I am using one HDMI input for the DVD player, and have my Cable Box and Xbox hooked up via Component cables. I am then running a single HDMI cable from the receiver to my TV, upconverting the other two signals.
Now I can get a picture on my TV fine, but the issue is sound. First, I have to crank up the volume to almost max to hear it through the speakers, and it is full of static. The volume greatly increases when I switch to Tuner and try out an FM signal. My HD cable box is on Component Video 1 and is using just analog stereo inputs right now. What am I doing wrong in the sound department?
Also, my center channel input sounds like it is shot. Full of Static and cuts in and out. What gives????
