strange request: need Universal w/o pause icon

Hi Everyone

Thanks for the good advice on buying a universal DVD player that has 6 RCA audio outs on the back. I found the Yamaha DVDS-567 and liked it features but for one... when in pause the icon shows up on screen. My Yamaha C920 didn't show the icon for more than a few seconds. It is useful to me for the following obscure reason - I do video art installations in galleries and so forth and need to freeze the video so 35mm still slide images can be taken for publicity or documentation etc. It doesn't look good to have those two vertical bars showing up. Anybody have any experience with a machine that doesn't keep the icon on-screen endlessly? Would you mind looking at your DVD player and see if yours remains on the screen?

i know my older pioneer as well as my DVD22 dont have the vertical pause bars on the screen. I would just go to best buy or circuit city & explain to them what you need & they should be willing to hook up a few of their floor models to a tv for u.

Or just wait for more people to chime in with their info

My denon 2200 and 2900 don't display any kind of icons on the screen when paused. Neither did my older 1st gen Panasonic, but my Sonys did.
