Strange question about surge protectors...I'm out of outlets...

I bought a new surge strip maybe 6 months ago that had a higher number of outlets, in order to accommodate a new XBox 360, so now I am currently maxed out with no outlets free. I wish I had gotten one size bigger, but too late now.

So, when I get my new receiver, which hopefully is soon, I will have to figure out a solution. I would rather not go out and spend another $20 or so to get an additional strip with more outlets as I am already over budget.

So I am wondering...if my cable box has a built in outlet on back, could I use this for one of the lower end components (maybe the Wii for example?) to save an outlet?

Are there problems with using this outlet on the back of a cable box?

It might be a switched outlet (it may cut power when the box is off), but no: there's no inherent problem running a low-power unit off the power out from the cable box.

Sounds good. I think it will be perfect for the Wii.

Thanks Jerry!
