Stop the bass in front speakers

Hello,
I am no audio expert but I know a little bit. Here is my setup:
Front speakers: Paradigm OM-102 series
Sub: Paradigm OM-105 (single connection from the pre-out)
Amp: Yamaha RX-v1900

The problem I have is in the amp setup. When I go in the speaker setup menu, my options for where I want my bass to go is:
Front
Sub
Both

If I select Sub (Which is what I want, the bass only going to the sub), I get nothing. If I select Front, I still get nothing (The way it is designed). The only way I can get sound to my sub is by selecting both (Sending bass to my front speakers and sub). The sound is great until I start to add some volume. Of course my front speakers start to pop long before they ought to becaue of the bass. I have tried setting up the speakers via the automatic setup as well as the manual. Neither one fixes the issue. Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks

Hi bdaboy22, Welcome to AH.

It sounds like the receiver isn't operating correctly. If the receiver is new take it back and have the dealer check it. If you bought it from a store like Best Buy just exchange it for new one.

I could be wrong and maybe someone else can chime in but if you can get bass out of both but not one or the other something sounds broke to me...

Good luck,
SBF1

I have a Yamaha RXV-2500. I have the front speakers set to small, the sub set to ON and the crossover in the Yamaha set to 50 Hz. I'd start with the crossover set to 80 Hz and adjust from there. Bass out is of course set to SUB. If that doesn't work let us know. Maybe someone else can figure out if you or I overlooked a setting. Mine works great with the above settings.
