STOP outbidding me!

Would you SOB's stop outbidding me for PS3's, Blu-Ray standalones, high def combo players and low-end AVR's? Stop bidding the same for a Sony STR-DG510 that a STR-DG810 just went for. Stop bidding used for what I can buy a new Onkyo TX-605 for. Stop paying over $300 for a 40GB PS3 when you can buy one from the Sony store. E-bay is supposed to be where smart people can find a deal not a place to fleece dumbasses that don't research!

That is all. I feel better now.

Since when?

And the whole Paypal scam doesn't make things any better.

Apparently mainstream stuff attracts too much attention. I have purchased some higher end equipment such as Bryston and Monarchy at fair prices.Like a job with 6 or more bidders the likelihood of someone leaving something out grows.

I live in a cave, I wouldn't trust Pay-Pal for anything, in fact there's been a couple of Audioholics that have had some trouble with them.

Speaking of outbidding, my friend's wife goes to an antique furniture auction, she falls in love with an old (dang old, even by my standards) couch and starts to bid 150, 200, 300......and she keeps up to the tune of 500 bucks, she finds out later she was bidding against herself, in her zeal for the couch the nimrod didn't pay attention to the guy with the mike. Now that's getting out-bid.

Paypal does have its issues. They barely offer protection to buyers and they fleece sellers like no one's business.

I did get my money back for an item not received once. It took like 6 weeks. I'm glad it was only $8 I paid for a Superbad DVD. :p

You're right about the higher end stuff having good deals. Even not so high end stuff like Onkyo TX-SR905's and TX-SR875's tend to go for a relatively decent price. The problem is my broke *** doesn't play in the $1k+ receiver realm right now. (Hands off the ban button, I'm working on it.) I'm talking about things in that $300 or (preferably) less range where every mofo w/ a government stimulus check will be playing next month.

People often pay more than retail on fleabay. They just get too excited and competitive and buy used for more than they would have paid for new in the store. That's why I use a sniping program. I set my maximum bid and forget it and the program place my bid 6 seconds before the auction ends. If I win the bid I get an email. If not then oh well.
