After three years, Amanda Pogany forgot about her stolen 1996 Honda Accord, assuming it was in car heaven. But recently the cops found it at a Queens chop shop, traced it back to her and called up the Brooklyn teacher. The Daily News reveals it was "returned to her drag-race ready, with a brand-new V-8 engine, tinted windows, oversized tires with special hubcaps - and custom valve stem caps shaped like bullet casings

Nah, it's a 4-cylinder, can't say for sure but it may be a B16A2 out of a civic SI.

Close, it's actually the H22 out of a prelude. But they do look similar to the B20z As far as I remember from the original story. B series would be nothing special. I just got a D16y8 civic to play around with, and if that accord wanted some serious bang, they would have gone K24, or K24/K20 hybrid head. Heck yeah. But nevertheless it's still a 4 cylinder. All they had to do was count the spark plug wires or count the exhaust manifold ports.

When I was in high school a buddy of mine had his Alfa Romeo convertable stolen out of the high school parking lot, the federales found it two months later in the mexican desert burned to a crisp with a dead body inside, so this story had a happier ending.

It has 4 exhaust ports visible up front. So, it very well could be.
Nope definetly 4 banger. A strong one mind you.

Buddy of mine put one of these in an X1/9. However, he had difficulties getting the power to the ground.

News reporters are notorious for getting "facts" wrong in stories as they often have no expertice and little if any knowlege of the subject they're reporting on. I'd lay odds on the reporter having heard "VTEC" and thinking that meant it was a "V8."

The reporter also stated the car is getting a new "VIN number"...

So if someone else installs stolen parts on your car after they steal it and you happen to get the car back you get to keep the parts?

The bigger question if car was fully insured and owners got the insurance money, do they get to keep it after car was returned ??

Some people write things they shouldn't. And the Daily News at that! This is just one of the reasons I don't give much, if any CREDENCE to the media. At least others on here didn't take all that was said at face value. V8....HA HA HA. And Drag ready? Any car is Drag Ready. What it can do, now that is a whole other STORY.
