I have the Magnavox MRD300/37 DVD system and just recently moved it to a new room. When I had it hooked up in its original location everything was working fine. Now in its new location when I have tried to hook it up, not all of the speakers are working. My diagnosis of the problem is found below, hopefully you can help.
Using a speaker wire and speaker I know work I have found that:
- FL = Front Left: works fine
- FR = Front Right: works fine
- C = Center: does not work with the color wire and the black wire in their correct location; does transmit sound when the color wire is in the C color slot and the black wire is plugged into either the FL, FR, or SW black slot
- SR = Surround Right: does not work with the color wire and the black wire in their correct location; does transmit sound when the color wire is in the SR color slot and the black wire is plugged into either the FL, FR, or SW black slot
- SL = Surround Left: does not work with the color wire and the black wire in their correct location; does transmit sound when the color wire is in the SL color slot and the black wire is plugged into either the FL, FR, or SW black slot
- SW = Subwoofer: works fine
So basically, the SR, SL, and C speakers are the problems and they play only when the color wire is plugged into that location with the black wire plugged into any of the other locations that work. So obviously there is something wrong with the black slots for these three locations. Any insight as to what the problem may be? Please help.
