Stereo headphones + AVR + Dolby Atmos (virtual)?

Hello to everybody. Hope you can assist me with the following.

For a number of reasons, I'm unable to use speakers in my apartment so listening to music, watching TV and gaming (Xbox X), is done by using high-end stereo headphones connected either to my headphone amp or my Yamaha AVR which does NOT support Dolby Atmos.

The headphone amp can obviously only output a stereo signal (great for music) and since the my Yamaha AVR does not support Dolby Atmos I was planning to upgrade. The problem is that can't find an AVR brand that offers "virtual" Dolby Atmos through the headphone jack.

I don't want to purchase any Dolby Atmos headphone/headset!

Downloaded the Dolby Atmos app for the Xbox which offers a headphone option (not bad), but this means using the "STRAIGHT" pass through mode on the AVR. Contacted the Yamaha customer support who informed me that all their current models, including the Avantage line, don't support virtual Dolby Atmos for headphones.

Would be most grateful for any info and/or confirmation whether an AVR can output virtual Dolby Atmos to headphones.

Thank you.

I see that no one answered the question here. I have a slightly different question.

I have to use headphones to stream netflix, etc. This is because it disturbs the whole family if I turn the amp up to listen to an normal Atmos event. My amp supports Dolby Atmos but obviously over the headphones its only stereo.

How would an AV Amp play Dolby Atmos to headphones? Is there such a thing? I would gladly buy a new AV amp and headphones.

Some headphones claim more spatial sound, but you know the answer and it's the same when someone buys a atmos soundbar, it dosent work.

I haven't been paying attention to the audio innovations over the last 18 months or so. I was hoping for a better answer but I guess the options haven't changed.

Thanks!

When you look at the dolby atmos speaker layout, it will be clear why you cant reproduce it via headphones. I'm sure if your headphones are good, you will enjoy the content.
