For that setup, you shouldn't need any stereo analog cables unless your cable box doesn't have a digital output. Other than that, you're looking at component video cables, a single RCA-terminated coax for the subwoofer, and optical and digital coax cables for digital signals.

Stereo Audio Cable Options ?

Thanks for your response - but I have 2 questions.

Wouldn't I need this type of cable if I wanted to listens to CD's.

Watching regular TV - wouldn't I need this type of cable for those channels that don't offer surround sound.

Thanks,

John

Not true.

Many, if not most, cable companies (that is to say, Time Warner in my area does) still carries analog channels. The set-top box does not output digital audio on analog channels. Therefore, I still need to use an analog stereo RCA cable in addition to the digital audio cable to connect the box to my receiver.

1. Nope. CD audio can be sent via digital from your DVD player.

2. Apparently yes. I failed to remember that a lot of places are still strictly analog on cable.

Not analog *only*. This is an important distinction.

My digital channels, which represent most of my channels, use the digital audio. However, the few analog channels that are left rely on the analog cable.
