Streem Speakers

Has anyone heard of these speakers? I see them all over Ebay for a good price. www.streemspeakers.com. Are they worth buying?

Looks like a "white van" scam to me. They may actually be good, but I wouldn't wager my money on that gamble.... Stick with the well known brands.

Just reading the materail on the website gives me concern, no spec's, no reviews, the descriptions are childish and inaccurate. Sounds like a place to stay away from.

Look Like imports

to me they look like they are imports from China or TW. They might be OK, they do say that they use MDF which is good, but I bet it is 1/4" or 1/2" at the most. Plus I don't like the fact that they won't post specs...who in their right mind doesn't post specs!

On the surface, the specs are decent and the price is low but I would still agree with the others that one would be better off sticking to better known brands. Reviews are mostly worthless anyway - have you ever seen a bad speaker review?

Reading their FAQ's was enough for me. I did not read about the individual systems. I have seen bad speaker reviews - check out the threads on Bose

yes, yes you should. Then forget you ever heard of Audioholics.com, don't ever research anything online ever again, and spend the rest of your days enjoying the music on your system. For the love of your wallet, do not ever do a search on Bose, or why you should possibly consider auditioning other gear.

hmm from the review I read about heir center, the shielding was inadequate, and nnede to be 5 inches from teh TV to not distort it.

That alone is a sign to beware, they prolly went the cheap route and bought regular woofer and just attached bucking magnets to them. The right way to go is to use an actual cup-type shielded woofer, since the emitted magnietic field is far smaller.

Plus the cabinets for some of their speakers strongly resemble the cabinets used in some of the KLH speakers...which scares me, since while the modern KLH uses halfway decent drivers in some of their speakers, their craptacular enclosures have always messed it up. I had a pair of KLH floorstanders and had to brace the living bejeebus out of them to even be able to play them even remotely hard....the woofers were powerful enough and the cabinets werent even braced, so on the first hard and loud bass hit, the front panel comes loose.

That is what I'm afraid of here....if those are KLH cabinets, you can be sure that the bracing will be very little if any...

IMO for cheap HT, Yamaha BP-4500. $250 at best buy for a 6.1 setup.

If you keep your 701's as L/R speakers, and want to stay with Bose, the models you want are:

Center: VCS-10 ($199)

Surrounds: Bose 161's ($158/pair)

Or you can buy both as a package deal at Crutchfielf.com on sale for $314.10

PS: Bose doesn't make a subwoofer. You'll have to purchase from another brand for those. I'd suggest researching SVS, Outlaw, or HSU Research for a new subwoofer.
