Anyone know anything about Steamboat?

My mom lives in Denver and I'm gunna go visit her in a month or two, she said maybe we'd check out Steamboat for the weekend.

Anyone ever been there? Where should I stay? Whats cool to do there?

I've been to Colorado a bunch, but, never Steamboat. My mom and I are both very active, hiking being or favorite, but we also like to look around, sight see, etc.

It's really just a trip for me to catch up with my mum, so, we'll chill, but, I was curious if anyone had any ideas or had been before?

I was there a couple of winters ago to ski. Absolutely outstanding skiing and some really nice places to eat in the area. I would be that there are a ton of summer activities that you could do outdoors in that area (e.g. hiking, climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, etc), and the good places to eat don't just disappear because its summertime :). Steamboat has a fantastic website (http://www.steamboat.com/) that I would direct you to for further advice.

Cheers for the responses.

If you've ever been in the summer, what do you guys do there?

Any resturant names you can recall that you liked?

Take bug spray & a GPS unit ;)
Haha, thanks, I'll bring the "Off" ... Mosquitos love me, so, that's actually really good to know.

Don't remember restaurant names, but if there's elk on the menu you should absolutely order it.

There's a ton of stuff to do outdoors in the summer. One friend of mine loves to fish there. Pretty much every outdoors activity you can think of exists, you just need to find the right vendor. I'd also recommend a trip to the hot springs in the evening.

Go to the website I sent you and look under "Activities". It will provide you with a huge list of stuff in the area as well as multiple vendors.

P.S. You must try the Alpine Slide while you're there too! http://steamboat.com/plan-vacation/activities/details/index.aspx?id=73
