Static noise in one of the speaker

I have a bose companion 5 speaker which I have been running since the past 2 years. For the past couple of weeks I have found that the left speaker produces a constant static noise. Though the audio quality has not changed in the same speaker, but still I want the problem to be rectified. I have tried reconnecting the whole set up, but it hasnt helped.

Have you tried switching the L/R speakers around to see if the problem follows the speaker or the amp?
