Starting new Theater need acoustic help

Hello all,

First time poster. I built a dedicated room for my theater. The dimensions are 17 wide by 25 deep by 13 feet hight from the depressed slab to the underside of the ceiling joists.

I am going to build up the floor to match the family room floor then step it down to accept two rows of theater chairs. I will also be building a stage below the screen.

What I need to do is build up the floor approx 2 ft. the slab is too low.

Question is what does everyone recommend for a floating floor system? Should I just frame it conventional and use the rubber U-boats under the joists that touch the slab? Than go over it with plywood and go from there?

What I was thinking of using is the Kinetics flooring and isolation blocks rolled out, but seeing that my slab is too low and I have to build it up, that won't work.

If anyone has any suggestions as to the best framing practices for a floating floor, I would love to hear them. I want to start framing it after Christmas
Thanks

If you're looking for isolation, you should consider a wooden floor in the whole room - not just the riser area. Look at something like Dri-Core and then building your walls on top of that. You'd be surprised how much bass will flank through even a concrete slab.

As for the riser area, how you do it will depend on whether or not you want to use it as any kind of Helmholz resonator. If so, then the cavities will need to be sealed and planned in terms of size and depth.
