Starting a spring project... Theater/Multipurpose room

Well I finally had some time and funds to start on finishing a section of my basement. Although I plan to move in about two years but I might as well add some square footage to boost the value. What better way to do it than a Theater! :D

This project will b eon going so expect occasional updates.

My brother came down to help me frame out the area of intended use. He is a superintendent of a regional general contractor and knows how to do things correctly. Though I can build enclosures and many other items, full on construction is an area to rely on an expert. ;)

Below are a few shots of the framing we completed. It only took about 5 hours or so to complete.

In case anyone is wondering, the large sections are for storage capacity and access to the main water input to the house. The placement of it within the room was extremely awkward but it does allow for a false wall. Make the best with what you are given right.

So here are a few of the pics to start on my journey:

Front right of room view from stairway:

Front left of room from right rear. We had used the concrete wall as a chalk board for the kids wit a little paint :)

Right Wall view from left wall:

More to come in the near future!

Well I know it has been some time but here is what I have completed since my last post here. I have even more photos and will share in due time. I somehow deleted my shots of all the insulation and the treatment of the in-wall cavities for the in-wall speakers though :(

Here are some shots of some of my wiring:

Here are some shots after the drywall was put up:

Is that blue board with Diamond Plaster? Acoustical ceiling coming soon?

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do for subs.
What speakers are those?

Nice clean work space, I see what you meant about choosing your pictures.
It looks effortless from here. Actually from here it is effortless. :)

It is plaster board and yes it was plastered. :)

I am also doing an acoustic ceiling, which the grid was just completed on.

My carpet is already in as well.
