Was it me or was the Dolby Digital mix very disappointing in this movie?

i watched it last night with my son and it just didnt seem to have a good mix. the explosions and special effects did not have the quality of sound as compared to some newer movies. Some scenes were not up to par in sound effects as i would have expected them to be.

When I saw this in the theater originally i was disappointed as well..I just assumed the sound quality in the theater was not correctly configured or not working properly etc. now that i have had a chance to hear this at home I am convinced they digital mix on this dvd was done very poorly.

Nah, it was not just you. I was not all that impressed with the sound either. I might be getting spoiled by good DTS mixes, I don't know. However, I have heard some good DD ones too so it must just be the mix.

I wasn't very impressed with the mix either. I have heard some DD mixes that were really good, but this wasn't one of them. I don't consider good DTS mixes as being spoiled, I think DTS should be the standard and Dolby should step it up.

I was disappointed by the sound also. There were some scenes where I found myself expecting certain sounds to follow the on screen action and they just weren't there. The dialog in some parts was mixed to low.

Its a shame about the mix...out of the 3, I thought the 3rd was the best and had the most to gain by having a great DD mix..short of the pod race that is.

Great, it wasn't me. This and Matrix: Reloaded were poor mixes on DVD. They just didn't have that oopmh! I was expected in some of the scenes.

But I think I was more disappointed with the storyline in Sith than in the sound. That pretty much eclipsed any other problems with the movie. Darth Vader stepping off the platform and screaming "Nooo!" like Frankenstein.

Great George, just great. That's what I deserve for standing in line for 9 hours to see that movie.

Hopefully an improved EP3 DVD will be issued with better LFE! Just like the Jurassic Park fix. I remember earth-shaking bass in the theater!

What would be really great is if they released an EP3 DVD remastered in DTS.

IM sure there will be some uber super enhanced special deluxe directors cut digitally remastered version coming out at some point.

hummm, somehow i have the feeling we will not see George Lucas's DVD's going the DTS way that soon.

The guy is DD-EX enthusiast 200%.

Well, we should also keep in mind that when they play back the movie at skywalker ranch, they are playing it on a scaled down version of a THX certified movie theater that probably costs an unheard of amount money. So to them, anything sounds nothing short of incredible. Still, everyone else knows DTS is the superior audio format, and THX is falling short of "Superior sound quality" by ignorantly using DD for everything.
