Stands or Wall Mounts? (Newb question)

Title pretty much says it all. Do you guys recommend putting speakers on stands or wall mounts? Or does it even make a difference?

EDIT: i guess it just depends on your room layout?

The general design is that you have floorstanding or bookshelf for mains.
I use stands for my mains. my rears are wall mounted :D

If your speakers have rear ports on the box, experiment with distance from the wall to see if wall brackets would decrease the sound quality too much. And the same with front-firing ports... ;-)

Bookshelf speakers are usually designed to be placed some distance away from the walls, as having a boundary(s) near the speaker will have an effect on its frequency response.
