As I plan my upgrade from HD CRT to plasma flat screen, I intend to put the new set on a stand rather than wall-mount as I live in a rented apartment. My center speaker currently sits on top of my huge CRT, but in the new setup, I am planning on putting it in on the stand front of the flat screen, as I don't want to put it on a lower shelf as I think that would sound terrible. Unfortunately, the built-in table stand on the set will not place the screen high enough so that it won't be obstructed by the center speaker. I know I could build a small stand to accommodate this setup, but was wondering if anyone knew of an off-the-shelf solution. I have found several short stands, but they are so deep (19.5") that they would take up the entire depth of the new system shelf I plan on getting, leaving no room for the center speaker in front of the set.
