Hi -

I'm debating replacing my 50" Sony LCoS tv in my main family room with a new Panny plasma. My question is, I can get the TC-P60ST30 on Amazon for ~ $1400. I know the previews on the ST50 have been great, but the same size ST50 looks like it will sell for ~ $2100. Given that this is a family room with the normal living constraints (i.e. windows, not ideally aligned seating, etc.), is it worth paying the extra $800 for the ST50 or should I save that money any put it into an Oppo Blu-Ray (I have a nice Panny Blu-Ray but no 3D), upgraded AVR, etc.?

As a brand new owner (got my ST30 yesterday) after some research I figured out that the new 2500 (something) Drive which should help with very fast motion is just most another to say 600Mhz - aka basically same as 2011 model and the difference is really minor

Regarding the price - I don't think $1400 is a bad price, but this model was on sale as low as $1300

Any thoughts on the Samsung D550? I like the 64" size, but can't tell if I'm taking too big of a hit on PQ there. I love the D7000, but $2300 may be too steep for me.

I don't much about these models but a comparable to ST would be between 6500 and 7000

I am quite happy with my ST30, though in wanting the best possible picture I will probably pick up a calibration disc at some point. I've noticed several instances where blacks could be improved, and I don't think it was the panels fault.
