I love iTunes more than anything, it's probably unhealthy, if I didn't have a never ending fountain of music, movies, and podcasts entertaining me at my whim I'd probably go insane. So on second thought, it's completely healthy!

I downloaded the SRS iWOW Premium plug-in last week and I couldn't believe the instantaneously noticeable difference. The music and movie enhancement was a given to me, I believed them when they said it would sound better; but what was surprising is how much better the podcasts I listen to sounded. Some of these low budget broadcasting out of a closet radio shows appear to have some passionate sound mixer working for them that really brings the show to life. I really can't say enough about how much better everything is. I can no longer live without it.

SRS WOW sounds like garbage to me, but it would certainly impress someone who has never really heard good sound. i actually know how this thing works, it does it by using a matrix to create a mid-side, boosts the side sound, and adds bass to the mid sound. a mid-side is a seperation of stereo, and mono information, anything that is played exclusivley on either the right or left channel, but not both at the same time, is put into the side, anything that is played through both, is put into the mid. i have tried about 5 different DSPs from SRS and hated them all, especially there CSII, its awful, center heavy, and sounds overdriven.

dude, i went to Best Buy yesterday and auditioned several klipsch, polks, and yamahas, and sony's i settled on the sony's. you either have never listened to them before and are just being biased because you can, or your ears are different then mine.

Ive listened to more speakers than you can possible imagine and not one Sony consumer speaker was worth the time;) I linked several good used speakers for your review and its obvious that your ears have a liking for marginal sound. I wouldnt be critical of someone else till you critic yourself:)

no the sony's had clearer highs and deepers lows then the polk's and the klipsch were just outrageously expensive (800 a speaker). and have you thought maybe they have increased the quality of their speakers since last listening? i remember you said you listened to the older models, those did not sound good because someone listed some of CL and i went to check them out awhile back , not too good sounding.

You still have no clue:confused: 800 a speaker outrageously priced ( I know Im getting sucked in, no comments by members please) are you kidding? I know you have a budget, but you still haven't listened to a speaker worth a damm, and aside from that, not in your room will it will matter most. Several members suggested the Behringer 2030ps, and you blew them off. You are a qualified BOSE purchaser. What you think you here is great when in fact it is garbage. Done playing:mad:

you apparently know nothing about me because i have bashed bose on this forum at least five times. and i know 800 is normal but not for my budget, and i passed up the berhingers because for the last damned time I DONT WANT BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS. i also auditioned those yamahas you suggested or somebody suggested, they sounded good, but lacked deep bass.

If these are the Sony and Polks that you are comparing I can tell you flat out that the Sony speakers are not even in the same league as the Polks. The Sony's have one the absolute cheapest tweeters made, and the cabinets are really cheap. The x-overs on the Sony's are a joke as well and they use cheap spring clip binding posts. The Polks on the other hand have real cabinets, real binding posts, Decent woofers and tweeters as well as x-overs that were well designed for the drivers. The bass response from those polks is also decent.

Here is a tweeter like the Sony's have and they are as bottom of the line as it gets. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=279-237

The link says they have push type terminals but sony's site says binding posts so they got one thing right. Their x-overs are generally nothing more than cheap electrolytic caps and tiny iron core inductors, and sometimes not even that much.

Those Sony speakers have many issues that put them in the walmart class of speakers. Also, an eight in 3-way is generally a lousy design to begin with and would suggest something lacking in the eight inch woofer. Also, 3-way x-overs are much more complicated to get correct and it is highly doubtful that sony put in the effort to design proper 3-way x-overs. The Polks are a proven DiAppolito (MTM) alignment, and the parts are higher quality than the Sony.

Here is another pair that crush the sony. http://store.audioholics.com/product/2714/66334/emp-impression-e5ti-tower-speakers--black-pair-

There are many speakers that are better than those Sony's and if you are on that tight of a budget it would be better to spend the money on a bookshelf type and then add a subwoofer later. It is better to piece out your system when on a budget and in the end you will have a much higher quality setup. You came to this site because you wanted help but if your not going to take the advice of those who are in the know when it comes to speakers then we can't help you. What myself and others are so delicatly trying to say is the Sony speakers are junk and we would not recommend them under any circumstances unless considering a set of bose.

have my eye on those speakers there btw, i am planning on saving up and getting the set, but its going to be a long along time before that happens. as far as the x-overs go, they seem to work fine for me. and i did not come here to ask for help, i came here because im a hopless audiophile and have been since i was 8 years old, i used to screw around with my dad who was an electronics designer and he had alot of audio equip, ive had a few shelf systems before as well. i was given a KEF 5.1 setup from a friend who had to get rid of it, it was good, but i dont like tiny satellite to sub systems, they always seem to be lacking fullness. one good thing i got out of the whole thing though was a marantz sr7400, really really good receiver, has spereate amplifiers for each channel and HUGE power block, the thing is a beast. and as far as the 8" woofers lacking, they blew my 10" kef sub out of the water. the speakers aren't as good as klipsch or anything, but they defenitly sound clear, and have decent sound.

I am a great believer in SRS Audio Sandbox processing especially with cheap pc speakers, which in general most people use.....the difference once heard is impossible to live without.

I also have a Nu-Reality SRS processor, where I must agree with one reviewer's opinion - that the sound enhancement provided diminishes in proportion to the quality of speaker and audio systems to which it is connected.

ps. and enough with the Sony's already!
