Any word on whether they will come out with a larger full component size version? The aesthetics are the only thing holding me back from picking one up. They just don't look quite right in my component rack.

Great review. I have been on the fense for a while about whether to part ways with $300 for one of these. I think you made my decision easier.

This was mentioned in the review as a suggestion. Therefore, I assume nothing has been announced about a different sized version.

Thanks. Didn't actually read the review (heresy I know) b/c I've read so many positive reviews about the SB3 already.

I've had a unit for 4 weeks now and it has lived up to all expectations. I would highly recommend this unit for remote music library access and internet radio. I'd like to see a higher quality remote but can live with the current unit (Favorite button is nice addition). Esthetically pleasing with great quality sound (use .wma mostly). Also, a rack-mount or larger unit for the stereo system in dedicated home theater would be nice. Current unit is a nice discrete show piece for living room nonetheless.

I doubt it. I think the size is a big selling point. Why would they put it in a big box?? If this is the only reason you are not buying one you are missing out. You could always buy an inferior product by Yamaha or olive. They will fit nicely.

Well - based on this review I did further research and ended up buying 2 Squeezeboxes. Turns out this is EXACTLY what I've been looking for.

Custom installers dont like weirdly-shaped boxes. While the current one is sleek, a marked up 1U version would tap into a whole new market. I suggested an option, not a replacement of the current model.

What about this is very different from the AudioTron? A lot of people want a rack-sized box....I'm using the AudioTron, but I just use it for mp3s, so I'm guessing this supports more media?

I did say a larger version. In any case, while the current design is what many people want, it looks akward in a rack complete with full sized components. IMHO of course. Furthermore, I would like to see them add XLR and AES outs to a full sized component.

I don't feel that I'm missing out at all. Much of my listening is SACD and DVD-A. I also use Roku M2000s via SPDIF when I want to access my CD database in wav. format. I'm waiting to get rid of my M2000s, but see no overwhelming reason to do so at this point.

Do both the Roku and Squeezebox require running software on a PC? That's one nice thing about the AudioTron...allows me to use a hard drive in a networked SMB sharing box to completely avoid the need for a computer to be running.

PS - Check your pms Sleestack :)
