Hi again . Well I have this squealing sound coming out of my speakers . I have a sony theater system all in one .DVD, TV,Music ,Video . Well when I'm using everything else but the dvd the sound is great ; however, when the dvd is playing then the squealing sound and the hiss starts . I bought a new dvd only hooked it up and theres only some hissing when the bass is up . Also a little bit of popping but it gets annoying . At first things sounded okay ,but as you keep watching then things get worse . Can anyone help . Should I get a new recieve , like what I have. or something all new . or throw the whole thing under the wheels of a Semi.

Hard to say where the problem is without some/lot of troubleshooting. What king of squealing is it? Does it sound like a mechanical squealing? Like the disc is rubbing something in th eplayer? Or is it in the speakers? Does it get louder if you increase the volume? Try to disconnect the TV cable from your system and see if it goes away as that would be a ground loop issue from the cable TV. If still there, disconnect everything else but the DVD player and speakers and see what happens.
What happens with a CD in there? How loud are you playing this setup?
Did you calibrate the volumes of the channels at all, level match them?
Let's start here.:D

Are the DVD player and the reciever the same component like some sony HTIB?
If they are seperate and you have them hooked up with the supplied red/white/yellow audio/video cables you may need to access your dvd players set-up menu and disable the dolby digital/dts outputs.
I agree try playing an audio cd

squeal update

Well it goes like this I start up the dvd and just as things get going the hiss and squealing sound comes throygh the speakers . If I play just the T.v. or xbox or thetuner the sound is great . This system is an all in one unit . I have disconnected everything and placed it all back in and still the noise is a bother.

Well, it looks like you need to invest in another DVD player; it doesn't need to be expensive though but you need the ability to plug it into the receiver. Not sure what capability the HT in a box have.

getting closer to the problem

Well I've narrowed it down to maybe a ground problem. I was just watching a dvd when it start to make small pops to crackling sound and as thing went on it got worse , so I just shut of my receiver and it went away after I started it again . So when you cut the power of then it resolve the issue , So what know??????????????????????? Help.

Interesting. How long did the problem stay away? May have to exchange it if it is still under warranty. Either the DVD player or the receiver has issues.

But, lets do another experiment. Disconnect the TV altogether from the system and see what happens.
It almost seems like the DVD has a bad part in it.

power bar issue

I've been told that your power bar which I use to connect all my components besides the receive ,could result in the noise that I 've experience . Are they reliable or should one get a good one . Is there a difference between one and another .

I highly doubt that is the cause of the noise. If you want to experiment try just plugging it straight into the wall outlet

Yep, that is the easiest experiment to do but I doubt it as well.

Still noisey

Well I did plug it into the wall directly ,but it was the same . I went down to a T.V. shop and explained to my best ability of what was going on and they figure its the transformer or something like that . Even know when the boys play there xbox its doing there also . I shut down the receiver for about 10 sec then everything is fine . Go figure . Have a line on a JVC unit do you think the sony speakers will work okay on that on . ???
