Hi All,

So as sort of a side business I'm looking into doing some home theater consulting and installations in strictly a residential setting. Obviously I want to calibrate people's new HDTVs as part of my service and I'm considering picking up one of these Datacolor Spyder3 TV colorimeters. Currently for myself and friends or whatever I just use the DVE DVD or Blu-Ray which has worked fine, but I like the idea of being able to use a colorimeter for clients as it allows me to be a bit more precise and for $200 it seems like a pretty sweet deal.

So I ask you, is this a quality product? Would you recommend something else? I know there are more professional products out there that can range into the thousands of dollars, but I'm not looking to spend that much. I'd be willing to go up to $500 maybe if its really worth it.

What say you audioholics?

I was suggested the X-Rite Eye-One Display LT which retails for around $140 and I plan on using that with HCFR and CalMan software (along with the DVE BD). It's yet to arrive so I'm sorry I can't give you first-hand advice.
