Splitting Audio Source for Two Seperate Systems

I use my Mac as my source for all music. I have an older decent stereo system hooked up to the Mac with a 1/8" to RCA converter cable, and it sounds great. I recently purchased a 2.1 computer speaker system, and I was curious...

Are there any "voltate/electricity/number-specs/way-above-my-head" issues that I'd have to worry about, before plugging this

into my computer, and attaching my stereo to one, and my computer speakers to the other? Any help what-so-ever will be so greatly appreciated, it may result in a happy dance.

Thanks,

Nope. The only issue may be a weaker signal because of the split. But other than that, no crazy stuff is going to happen.

As far as the weaker signal goes, would there be some sort of higher quality Y splitter that would minimize the quality loss?

No, the run is so short any difference in gauge will never be noticed.

I'm not an audiophile, but I do enjoy somewhat quality sound just like the rest, would this setup be alright?

Assuming you have good quality stuff, it should be just fine. Speakers are most of the sound you hear.

a digital connection in this case would prevent signal loss, i believe. im not quite sure if your computer speakers/computer have a digital input, though.
