splicing rear speaker wires

I am changing the position of my rear speakers approximately 2 feet from their current position. The wire is run through the wall and attic and I am hoping that I don't have to run new lines. Can I splice the wire without losing any performance?

Yep, just make sure that it's a good, clean splice with good contact. If you can, twist the wires, apply solder, then shrink-tube your splice.

You might even want to stagger your joints to eliminate any possibility of shorting.
