Spherex System

Hi, I am new to sound systems and I am looking for a home theatre system that will work with many electronics such as mp3 players, dvd players, computers, and game systems.

The sound system which I found was Spherex which is a combination of different manufacturers. From what I hear its, Mirage and Athena. Is this system a good start off system? I do not wish to spend too much money, probably just $500.

Any input would be greatly appreciated thank you.

I have heard of Athena and Mirage speakers, but not spherex.
Is $500 your budget for 5 speakers + sub? + receiver? + TV?

Elaborate on your budget and your room size and listen to Athena and Mirage speakers at a store or dealer.

For $300, look at the Athena Micra 6.
For $500, check out the Athena audition series bookshelf speakers and center channel with a $1-200 sub.
You can probably get a pair of nice Mirage bookshelf speakers for $500.

Buy these new online for the above prices.

My $500 budget is jut for 5 speakers + sub + receiver. The room size is most likely not the biggest. It is approximately 200 square feet. Thanks jc.

Spherex

The spherex system will probably work well in your small room.
However, the Athena Micra 6 with an entry level receiver will probably perfrom equally well and allow you more features and room to upgrade in the future. The receiver will also include a tuner, connections for analog audio sources, and video switching.

I was wondering if anyone here on this forum have the Spherex XBOX Sound System.
I'm looking to buy one, but not pay $400. for it as Amazon has them for.

Not sure what you are getting it for, but I would go with one of the previous poster's recommendations in that you can get a similar sounding receiver/speakers combo for about $350 or so and that'll offer you more, overall, for your money.

Now, I'm not sure how much you are spending, but basically it is a set of computer speakers with everything connecting to the subwoofer. Simple, but not very effective if you want to add more, or take advantage of the speakers for things like Blu-ray disc, or a one-cable HDMI solution.

I would look more at something like this:

It allows your X-Box, cable box, and Blu-ray player all conenct via HDMI to the receiver, then plays back HD audio and passes video onto the display with one HDMI cable. Simple, works well, and priced right.

Plus, as budget allows, you can upgrade to better speakers.

Granted, if you can get it for $100, then it may make a lot of sense, but it is still a glorified set of PC speakers, which will limit your potential growth and usage.

I was thinking: When I buy a receiver, I would want it to be a 7.2 receiver
That's why I was thinking of buying the Spherex Set Up for now...
Mainly 'cause of the Spherex/Mirage Satellites.
I saw this bundle on eBay: Mirage MX 5.1-Ch Speakers & Denon AVR-991 Receiver
Yeah it's expensive, but when I do have the money I was planning to buy it..
Are Denon receivers any good? Thank you again for your fast reply!

Yeah I've been looking for them... so far nothing ...One of these days..
Someone will pop up ^_^ I did find a guy on another forum, he had 2 of the
Spherex Satellites he was no longer using. He sold it for $10. each plus Shipping
it should be arriving today...
