Welcome!

1. This measurement is for sensitivity. It states how loud a speaker will play with 1 watt of input. The higher the sensitivity, the louder a speaker will play with the same amount of power. There isn't any golden rule about what sounds better, but often any speaker with a sensitivity of 96dB and up is horn loaded (like Klispch).

2. No, you don't need to worry about having the same length on each speaker. Electricity travels way too fast to make an audible difference. What you should look to do is use quality, low-resistance wire to avoid any attenuation of the signal. I recommend using 14ga or thicker.

A speaker with a higher sensitivity rating will be louder for a given power input. Those JBL's show 91 dB on their website which is pretty darn efficient. They also have an 8 ohm impedance so you shouldn't have any problems driving them with just about any amp or receiver.

As for speaker wires, they do not need to be the same length. Signals travel at the speed of light down speaker cables so the differences in cable length would have to be on the order of miles to hear a difference.

Good luck on the new speaker purchase.

Edit: Beat me to it :D
