Hi,

Is it OK to use surround speakers rated at 80 W with a amp that has 100 W output per channel.

Thanks

The reality is, you aren't using that 100W all of the time. Most speakers only draw a few watts during normal listening, so it should be no problem at all.

When I worked at the car audio shop most brands wouldnt take back speakers that had a hole in the surround, but if they had a hole in the surround and were blown, no problem.

So we used to plug them into the wall socket.

A 10" sub would usually last 5-10 seconds blasting a 60hz tone at somewhere around 4000w.

A few percent wont kill ya.

That's one amazing wall socket! Where do I get one?

And for surrounds, well, that would be some soundtrack to peak at 100 watts:D
