You do not really need to worry about matching a sub to any other brand of speakers. Subs, by nature of the frequencies that they are designed to reproduce, are capable of being intigrated into any system. The most important thing to do is go out and listen to (or better yet get the sales people to let you do an in home demo) of as many different speakers that you can find inside of your price point. The frequencies above the ultra low and subharmonics are the ones that get coloured by the differences in each speaker manufacturers designs. Plus, the shape of each individual's ear makes the sounds of speakers sound differently as well. So what sounds amazing to me could just as easily sound amazingly horrible to you.
