Speakers for new HT advice requested

I have narrowed my choice of speakers down for the home theater under construction in the remodel of our home. The dedicated room will be 14x21x8 and will have no windows, and drywall is QuietRock 530.

I am considering Axiom speakers and would like to hear from all of you, your thoughts regarding the difference between a system using the M60's,and EP500(2) vs. M80's and EP600(2). Either system would include dual centers VP150's, a pair of QS8's and be driven by an Outlaw 990 with a pair of Outlaw 755-5's.

Trying to determine if the additional cost is justified.

I am new to all of this, and if this setup is way off course any input would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Going with the M80's & EP500's would give you the higher performance mains, plenty of low end, and save $1200 over the 600's.

Axiom amps

Have you seen the size of the EP-600? 2 would be insane (though they try this in the audioholics review). I would also go for the M80's in your high end setup since amp power is not an issue. Since two subs can be difficult to intigrate, you might consider starting with one EP-500 (or 600) and adding a second if you decide it is necessary.

With your room size, you might also benefit from an extra pair for QS8s for 7.1 surround. On the electonics side, The combo of the Yamaha RX-V2500 and Emotiva "Big Dog" amp has been reviewed and recommended by audioholics. In this setup you could use the Yamaha's amps for the surrounds and zone 2. The Emotiva could bi-amp the fonts, two amps for the 2 centers and 1 to spare. The newer 2600 model has HDMI switching.

2 subs is much easier to integrate as long as everything is square. It also provides a much better balance in the sound.

I would also go m80's and 2 ep500's.

Why 2 centers? Your room isn't that wide, and it would probly be a waste. The 120 is already 27.5 inches wide, and will disperse much wider then that.

I also recommend 2 pairs of surrounds, and see if you can do with qs4's over 8's to save even more. Email axiom and see what they recommend aswell, because they made the speakers.;)

Good luck with purchase,

Actually it was Axiom who recommended the 2 centers, one above thescreen and one below, each pointed at a specific seating level as there will be 2 rows on different levels. They also recommended the 2 EP600's. Thanks for the input.

axiom is pretty honest so they are probobly right, but 2 ep600's does sound pretty overkill for that size. i would have thought to only get 2 ep500's and m80's as well. and then 7.1, with dual centers

but id listen to axiom if that is what they say
