Speakers for my Daughter

My daughter seems to have "won" an HK Reciever at work (no idea what model) and I'm going over tomorrow to set it up. I have a few mismatched speakers laying around my scrap pile that I'm going to take over (JBL E100/KLH surrounds and an Advent center). That should hold her over for a little while but I want to get her something that actually works. Keep in mind she isn't and audiophile. I looked around the net and I've landed on either the discontinued Energy Take Clasic 5.1 or the Speaker Company T series 5.1 both around $400+. Im leaning toward the Energy system simply because I've had experience with both Mirage and Athena and I like API products, but I would like to here what others would think.

I think that price includes an 8" subwoofer (Energy ESW-8?) as well as the five satellites.

You can get just the five satellites at www.audioadvisor.com and allocate the other $200 to a separate sub.

BTW, I'll vote for the Take 5 system as well. For his purpose and the simplicity of ordering, if the sub is included for that $400, it ain't too bad a buy at all.

eehh

a soundbar might not be a bad idea...
With a soundbar you don't need a receiver, which the kid just won. Ergo, the search for reasonable speakers.

I don't even think you even use a soundbar without utilizing it's internal amps/processors.

Get her a Bose or some KLH speakers.

they make some that need an external amp

not sure, if not it probably wouldnt hurt to add one... but just the bar far exceeds the OPs $400 budget...
