Speakers for a HK AVR25 II

Aloha all, I have a HK AVR25 II rated 75 W both channels driven into 87 Ohms and/or 100 W both channels driven into 4 Ohms.
My primary goal is to listen to rock music, occasionally in cranked-up mode, a nice high volume.
Would I be better off with 75 W @ 8 Ohms or 100 W @ 4 Ohms?

Theoretically, a capable amp’s 4-ohm power rating should be close to double its 8-ohmn spec. The fact that the 4-ohm rating is only 34% higher tells me the amp probably should not be given 4-ohm speakers. So, I’d go with 8-ohm speakers.

If possible you want to see impedance and phase angle graphs for the speakers. Many manufacturers claim an 8ohm rating but testing often shows a 3 or 4 ohm swing in the critical 100Hz area, so the speakers are actually closer to 4 ohms. Lower impedance will lead to higher power output, so that is one factor, but you should probably be looking at speaker sensitivity instead. Higher sensitivity speakers will play louder with the same power input. 86dB-87dB is typical but 90dB will require less power for the same volume.
