Speakers going out on my TV.
Panasonic Product Support - TC-P58S2

Would like to avoid wiring for rear speakers, which I realize limits optimal sound quality, but economical is high on the list anyway. Besides, this room is fairly small. Was considering a sound bar, but I realize it's also not optimal.

Also, I have two 10"Jamo floor subs from my last house (sold speakers with the house).
SUB 1810 Subwoofer - Specs

Room is 21' x 12'
Distance from screen to seats is about 10'

Gave away my last receiver. New one needs to handle Blu-ray player, Xbox 360, cable/satellite decoder.

Need suggestions for speakers and receiver, please.

Would like to spend less than $1000
Take a look at Denon
DENON AVR-1911 7.1 Home Theater 3D Multi-Source/Multi-Zone Receiver | Accessories4less

These will play way above a soundbar - a lot of people do 3.1
The Jamo sub can augment the bass for now - you may want
to save up for a new one in the future.

Look at the PSB Alpha B1 and the C1 center

My favorite budget speaker
The Cambridge S30 and the S50 center

Been happy with these Jamo's. They aren't on many wish lists, but they rattle the walls the way I like.

I read some reviews on Amazon on that Denon. Someone had trouble passing a Samsung D6500 Blu-ray through it, but perhaps this is a case of getting what you pay for. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BD-D6500-Blu-ray-Player-Black/dp/B004N85YAG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1324926439&sr=1-1

I have the same entry level quality Panny Blu-ray. Some concern that I have to upgrade that too. Don't really see a need though. Looks fine to me.

I have the Samsung Blu-ray player, and sometimes the player can
be sensitive - sometimes just a handshake issue. All I do is just
reset it, not a big deal. However, the Samsung players are better
now, than in the past. Panny entry level Blu-ray players, are good
for the money.

This Yamaha receiver is a good one too - the 667
