i just got a onkyo 605, with polk rm6750 speakers, its all good untill i play halo. when there are 5 or more players shooting in the same area, the speakers start to cut out i have tried hdmi, optical, analog, nothing has worked, i have also changed x-box 360s..same results. i have run #14 speaker wire, banana plugs, what more needs to be done,

Hey, oldschool, welcome to the forum!

In what way are the speakers cutting out? Is it temporary, or is the 605 shutting down (such as going into a protection mode)?

are there cut-outs with 2 players ? 3 players ? or just 5 or greater ? I'm asking because it could be the demand multiplayers are putting on the computer/xbox system that is causing the audio cut-outs and it has absolutely nothing to do with your sound system. Are there other instances where you are using other sources, like DVD, CD music, or HDTV sources ?

Great suggestions. I also think it's gear related not the loudspeakers. Without any additional info, I'll go with clipping first. Those aren't difficult speakers to drive at all.
