Speakers bottoming out??

So last night my wife and I sat down to watch Finding Nemo. At the scene where Darla taps the fish tank my Definitive BP10B's bottomed out. I turned down the volume as fast as I could get the remote into my hand but none the less they bottomed out. My question is, how serious is this? It is the first time that I have ever heard them do that. Can it cause damage just from the one time or does it have to be a repeated thing to do damage?

I'm sure that scene can really shake things up witha sub though!!! I look forward to the day when I have enough dough to buy one!

Thanks in advance for help!

You should be alright. I do it sometimes to my sub in my car.

Thanks for the reply. I just got these speakers and the Yamaha RX V2500 last weekend. My wife actually bought them for me. she knew I wanted some HT stuff for quite some time. I guess she figured that I earned it.
