Speakers and amp for around $2000

Hi I have a question, I am researching on looking to buy a 5.1 system(no Sub) which includes center channel, front left and right tower speakers, surrounds and a reciever for around $2000 to $2300 price range, I have already decided on the SVS PB12-NSD Sub, which will cost a additional $700, so all i need is the speakers and reciever for around 2grand to compliment this Subwoofer, I understand my budget is very tight, is it possible to get a decent set up with this budget?

I have been impressed by the sound of Bowers and wilkins, Paradigm, Salk, i understand these speakers are expensive, I dont mind buying used, and my favourite brands are Paradigm and B&W, and also i do want tower speakers , I do live in a apartment(planinng on moving to a bigger place or a house), my apartment is around 900square feet, and i live on the ground floor only attached to one niegbour, I would say that i would watch TV and movies 70%of the time , music15% and xbox 15%, as for music i listen to all kinds of songs.

Please help me find the right speakers, I do appreciate everyone reading this and taking the time to respond, you guys rock!!

Ok so you need a 5.0 speaker and receiver combo for $2300. There are literally 3 threads on the front page of this section you need to read. If you like Paradigm, there is a set of V2 Studio 40s (bookshelves, but if you close your eyes I bet you can't tell the difference between them and the 60s, especially when you factor in the SVS sub) on Audiogon. They want a little too much for them, $700 I think. You may have trouble finding a good center to match.

I'd look at the thread where everyone is talking about the Kef setup the guy just ordered. Being in a smaller apartment, you could easily get away with the Q700 instead of Q900s he ordered and have money for your receiver.

You can always start with the front 3 - and save for the surrounds.

The BEST you are going to do right now, and probably for a long time would be from Vanns.
2 X Energy RC-70 towers: $1,000
1 X RC-LCR: $280

That leaves $700 for a revceiver.

You could then save up $300 and get the RC-10's for $300 for surrounds.
Mesh that with a SVS sub like you plan on doing, and you sir, will have ONE HELL OF A SYSTEM ...
One other option would be get the RC10 now and look for a deal on a receiver, but I recommend the first option.

A Pioneer VSX -1021K powering an Axiom Epic 50 less the subwoofer and you would have a few dollars left to buy a few Blu-ray movies for demo.
