Speakers, A/V Electronics made in USA?

After some recent shopping in Best Buy, and other box stores, I began to wonder what is not made in China these days. Now, I have no problem with things being made overseas, but I have noticed that so many products made in China come one of two ways: excellent quality (like my Marantz DVD player), or poor quality (like any pair of Nikes that I have bought in the last 4 years).

This thought then led me to wonder about home and car A/V equipment. I do know of some high end electronics that are made in the USA (e.g. Krell, Zapco), but, especially in the case of Krell, not many can afford those. But, what I am really curious about is are there are any high quality speakers made in the USA?
What about affordable, high quality electronics?

please discuss....

Well, they're not the most affordable, but I know of at least two electronics made in the USA, B&K Components and RE Designs. I'm sure there are more, but that's all that comes to mind right now.

As far as speakers go, Phase Technology is completely made in the USA. Drivers, cabinets, everything.

Mcintosh products are made in the US, although the company is owned by overseas folks. Clarion, I believe. They are expensive, but in my opinion are worth it because of the value, both now and what they are worth in later years. I own several Mac products, including speakers, amp, etc and love them all. Worth a look at/listen to for sure!
I also believe Energy speakers are made in the US

McIntosh is actually owned by the same company that owns Denon and Marantz, D&M Holdings.

Corporate buy outs and takeovers...who can keep up!?!? At least the quality seems to still be there. The last piece I bought was an MC352. It is the best sounding amp I have heard for anywhere near the price. I guess I am a dinosaur as I still listen to 2 channel stereo when enjoying music. I leave the multichannel sound to the HT setup. I also had a brain-blip on the Energy speakers. Seems like they are actually a Canadian co. At least I was on the right continent.

I will put my Vandersteen speakers up against anybody at any price for soundstage and linear frequency response. Made in California. (Proprietary drivers made in Denmark I believe). Parasound, B&K and Rotel make good electronics. The B&K is made here and I believe Rotel is too.

Also Thiel's are totally Murican.

I had a Rotel and I believe they are assembled in the U.K? At least that is where their base of operations is. They have distributers in the U.S. and Japan also. I don't think Americans can claim them, though :) .

Rotel = China?

I just heard a Demo of the Rotel using B&W speakers yesterday - - Salesman told me that the Rotel is owned by B&W (UK) but all the manufacturing is done in China....

I wondered about the relation between Rotel and B&W; not surprised in the least.
Nor am I surprised that Rotel is made in China.

Parasound, Definitive Technology

Are US Companies. I know Parasound is often assembled overseas and designed and supported here. I am not sure if Def Tech speakers are made(assembled) here or abroad, but they are supported here.

actually, I'm not concerned with which companies are headquarted here, just which companies have products made here.

All of the speakers mentioned use drivers made in China or Indonesia. "Made in USA" means assembled in USA. I think Dayton is the only loudspeaker company that still actually makes drivers in America. Most all electronics are assembled overseas, and 99% of the internal components are made in Asia. American engineers design, and produce a prototype, and then the specs are sent to a company overseas where it goes into production. Sometimes the component assemblies are sent here for final assembly. Even the higher end stuff (Krell, McIntosh, and others) use 90% parts from somewhere other than the US.
