When setting up a home theater should all the speaker cables be the same length? I'm using 12 gauge wire. I was told before that the length of the fronts should be half the length of the rear speakers. Is this true?

No it’s not true and absolutely absurd. Its a good idea to keep your cable lengths to a minimum, but having one speaker cable 10ft in length vs 20ft has very little difference electrically and subsequently audibly (assuming cable of same design and of sound design). Having long wire runs for the rear is a simple fact of life. If the losses concern you, try 10AWG wire to compensate.

Thanks Gene, So using approx. 7ft. for the fronts and 30ft. for each rear speaker is ok. That's what I wanted to hear thanks.

The cabels are all of the same brand and gauge. (Ultralink 12 gauge). Which seems to be good cables, so far I have not had any issues with them, except that I have them at approx. 15ft. ea. Which has created a mess behind my cabinet. Thanks for the reply.
