Speaker Wire Yes Or No?

Im new to the forums here and im gonna be getting a Onyko HT-S780 HTIB. I was looking around for decent speaker wire and cables. I was at menards today and they had a spool of 250' Magnavox 16g wire and i was wondering if any of you have used or have any advice on this. While i was there i also saw the midgrade Monster Cables i needed (component and optical) for 20 i was just seeing if this would be a good buy or not. I tried to do a search for this cause i know try to search for your answer before you start posting. Thanks in advance for any info.

16 guage will be fine for you... anything thicker will be overkill on that system...

Don't buy Monster! Get the cheapest optical cable you can find, and I would only get the component cable from Monster if it was really really cheap!!

Since you have 250 feet of speaker cable, you could run a double-shot of the 16 gauge to each speaker to increase your overall gauge.
