What you essentially need is the shortest runs of the largest
cable possible for the front speakers. Do not get sucked in by
the quasi-"new age" technobabble spewed by people who want to sell you vastly overpriced accessories at a massive profit margin. 12 guage oxygen free copper cable will probably do it.
For the rear surround channels, 16 guage of a convenient length will do fine. There is bass produced there but is is mostly ambient in nature.

Just to add my 2cents, you can buy 10/12 AWG Sound King wire from parts express for under $.50/ft. I recommend using 12AWG for the rears if you have the space to route them. Your system will benefit from 10/12AWG long runs of swire over 16 awg mostly because of the decrease in resistance.

Take a look at the review I did on 12AWG Sound King wire for more details.
