Speaker wire : I'm looking for an old post / formula

I thought there was a post where a mathematically inclined person posted a formula that would basically tell you what AUG wire you needed for runs of a certain length to speakers of a certain ohm rating. Could someone point that out to me? I don't see the post nor did I find it via advanced search ....

Disclaimer: I'm a newb but I'm knowledgeable enough not to fall for m@nster flavoured snake oil.

Hey, Alamar. There's more than one site, but my favorite is this one here.

You can always find it later on by doing a Google search on "speaker wire gauge". That's how I find it every time.

Just remember, real Audioholics use 10awg....;)
And real Audiophiles use 8 gauge monster truck rally steel cables it gives a monster coloration to the sound. Sadly they are hard to find anymore since monster truck rallies were suited.:)

They both sound the same, though (or is it 'thow'?). Maybe it's 'theaux'.

Current is current and the result of P=I x E will take the average impedance into account (average, since it's not a fixerd number and the variations are short-term).

Although its true higher priced brand wire isn't any better, it can be worse.

Two~three years ago I was setting up a stereo system in an extra BR. I needed both banana plugs and wire, so I went to RS as I like their banana plugs. They had a short roll of Monster XP that has a center dielectric, said to improve the highs. So I got it.

Now I was hooking up speakers I've had for years, so I knew exactly how they should sound.
The result was the highs sounded very harsh, so much for improved highs!
I orded some BJC 12 awg, hooked it up and all was good again.
