Speaker wire gauge

Is it ok to use 14 AWG wire for front height speakers 35 feet away and 16 AWG wire for height speakers 18 feet away from the receiver, or is it best to use 14 gauge for all 4 speakers no matter the distance from the receiver? The speakers are 8 Ohm.

At 18', either is fine. Don't believe the hype about speaker wire, but definitely use the appropriate type WRT electrical code (CL2 or CL3 with the correct jacket).
