Hi,
Can someone advice me what size of wire gauge is appropriate for a 8ohm JBL balboa bookshelf surround speaker which is at a distance of 50ft(wire length. Now used 18AWG Monster and cabled goes along side with the wall) from my receiver.
Thanks,
Amith

From what I've read, I think you might want 14 awg for that length.

The short and sweet version, speaker wire carries current, the larger the gauge, the less resistance the wire offers...lessor gauge wire will offer more resistance to the current and build up heat as a result and the transfer of energy is less efficient.
