Hi All , new to this site and i must say its awesome!
:) :)

I have a Yamaha RXV-2500 Receiver being delivered on Monday.

But I received my Yamaha NS-AP 9500 home theater speakers today and it came with 18 guage wire. Should I replace it with 12 guage? Would it make a difference? Thanks Dave

1. Due to the articles exposed here, the high-quality (but not expensive) stranded 12 AWG wire is the goal because it has the most desirable properties of a good cable (reasonably low capacitance, inductance and resistance).

2. You can try it, because it's not expensive, what can you loose? a couple of bucks?

First, why in the world would you have a Yammie 2500 delivered before you knew if you won the Audioholics give-away, and second; yes, replace the 18 ga zip cord with 12 ga, particularly if you've got longer runs to cover (see numerous speaker wire articles, shoot-outs, etc. on this very site).

Bryan...I'da waited to see if I won, myself... :D

???? You have 18 ga, right. ;)

You need 12 ga or 14 ga. Home Depot has it for as little as $.30/ft.
Or, low voltage landscape wire will do as well. You can also double up the 18ga to the front if the length is not long, and just buy for the rears.
