speaker wire and inner connects

I have a modest home theater system. All used parts. Pioneer VSX501 receiver, Sony SS350H fronts, Sony 5000 center, and Sony SS150H rears.
No sub yet. Since all speakers and my receiver don't have banana plug capability, and you just strip the wire and push it in, will I see any advantage in upper speaker wire and inner connects or is my Radio Shack wire and connects sufficient ?
I'm not an Audiophile as evident and budget is a factor.
Thanks.

As long as your speaker wire is sufficient AWG for the length of the runs, you won't hear any meaningful difference.

Interconnects can make a more noticeable difference, but on a modest system it is the last place to be spending money. Save your money and put it toward a sub and you will get much more benefit out of that.

If you do decide to go interconnect hunting (the only ones I'd worry about at all are the shoelace-thin ones which may be under-shielded), just hit monoprice.com. interconnects are a couple of dollars a piece.

Like j_garcia said, as long as speaker weire is thick enough fro the distance used, then you'll be OK. Philips brand interconnects at Walmart will be more than good enough. :)

Perhaps, but unless my memory is failing: they are overpriced. A standard 5' interconnect should be only a couple of dollars. Even my 20' HDMI only cost me about $20 IIRC.

The most similar on monoprice is $1.13.
But I like a little shielding on my interconnects ($3.38): http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021803&p_id=5347&seq=1&format=2
From their web site;

3. Shipping Terms.
monoprice.com will arrange payment for shipping with the carrier, but such costs are the responsibility of Customer. Risk of loss is upon Customer once monoprice.com delivers the Product to the carrier. Delivery times are estimates only and monoprice.com shall not be liable for delays.

So how much does shipping cost? That needs to be factored in as well. For someone like me who lives in Canada, it most likely end costing me as much for a similar set of cables at Radio Shack..aka "The Source"

How that facto plays out is heavily dependant on how many wires you need. For a few, you are absolutely correct that shipping would be too much.
