Speaker Wall mount question

I want to mount the Bic acoustech surrounds on the wall. First question, can I mount them near the top of the wall, with like 1' between the surround and the ceiling itself? Second question, how do I go about mounting one of those, they have mounting tabs on the back that are spaced 8 inches apart. So I can mount one side of the speaker to the stud, well can I mount the other side straight to the drywall? What do you guy's recommend?

Would a better idea be to get a piece of ply wood, mount the plywood to the stud, and then mount the speaker to the piece of plywood?

You might what to take time to check out where the speakers sound the best in your room. As to mounting the speaker onto the drywall, use some drywall anchors. Probably the best ones would be hollow wall anchors.

Isn't the optimal place to have speakers at around ear level? Anyways, anchored screws would probably work best, as stated above, but I'd be more concerned about the placement of the speakers than how to mount them; there's a way to mount almost anything
