speaker system for large room

Looking for recommendations for a home theater speaker system for a 24'x24' room with cathedral ceilings and hardwood floors. I have a Onkyo sr-607 receiver and a samsung pn650 plasma. Looking for something for $500 or less . Checked out the infinity tss-500 and boston acoustics xs 5.1 on line , seem nice but would like some input from an expert. Any input would be appreciated. They are both nice, highly rated mini-speaker systems suitable for a small environment. For a room that size I think you'll want larger speakers.

That might not be possible with your budget.

Think about trying to light the whole room with one 60 watt light.

Make perfect sense. Guess I will have to save a few more bucks. I have an old Cambridge soundworks ensemble system I can use till then. Thanks a lot. Happy Holidays!
