I am picking up an old Marantz 2235B (35 W) stereo receiver. my primary use will be playing vinyl. I was wondering if someone could suggest some speakers that would match well with this receiver.

I'm trying to stay under $300 for the speakers if possible.

It is a lengthy discussion, but I'd look at the "best $250 bookshelf speakers" thread for starters.

One thing to keep in mind though, with the lower power, I'd be looking for something that has high sensitivity, probably in the 90dB @ 1w/1m or higher range to make the most of that power.

Bookshelf not gonna do much for 2-channel without a sub.

My bedroom bookshelf speakers get down to 50Hz and I have no problem listening to them with no sub :) Yes something that gets down to the 30s would be a good choice without a sub, but 35W is also going to be a factor. Too much extension and that receiver will saturate.

Got a 2275 instead

I ended up getting a Marantz 2275 instead. Much more power 75 Watts, so maybe I need more speaker for it.

If I decided to spend a bit more than the $300.00 i wanted to stay at what would users recommend for a $400.00 to $500.00 budget?

I ended up getting the Athena speakes, and after some break-in time they sound great, and pair well with the marantz I got...

Thanks.

just introduced to the magic

I recently aquired a marantz 2235b which from the looks and sound is in fine shape. Wondering if anyone new if it was normal for the back right side to be running a little hot. It is not searing nor is there smoke, but just wondering if I should be concerned. Do not have much experience- very much a beginner - thanks much

But also there are many features, such as Wireless speaker for Bluetooth devices with perfect sound quality and bass response Support hands-free calls with microphone-Hands free function enables you to stay connected, you can enjoy a weekend at home to enjoy the beautiful music brought.
