Speaker Suggestions

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and was looking for a little advisement. I am in the market for a new set of front speakers. My current setup is a Pioneer VSX-816 receiver, Yamaha NS-6490 bookself speakers, Klipsch 10" sub, and some old Pioneer HTIB rears and center. I am a college student so the budget is tight and low, $500 low. I was looking at the TST2's but am open to anything.I would like whatever speaker it is to have a good amount of bass because I watch alot of movies and play alot of games. Right now the setup is in my bedroom since I have roommates but will eventually be put in the living room once I move out. The bedroom is approximately 15'x15'. I use the setup for 75% movies and games and 25% music. Any suggestions are welcomed and thank you in advance.

You already have a sub, and since you're a college student chances are you will be moving many times before settling down. Therefore, based upon your budget and your circumstances I'd look into quality used mini-monitors that are fairly easy to drive. Below are a few suggestions:
Paradigm Studio 20's
Totem Mites
Usher S520
NHT Classic 2

If you only want new:
AV123 ELT525 (if in stock)
KEF IQ3
Epos 3

Just based on the review I think I'd give the TST2s a try since you can return them for free if you don't like them. They seem efficient enough to drive really well with that pioneer. If you can find a coupon you can probably even squeeze the matching center into your budget. But I don't have 1st hand experience with them, only their subs.

"just listening", has a point in that used is anther option. The real problem is that speakers are so subjective that what somebody else loves you may hate.

If you can DIY you could build a very much hi end system for this money.
Something that easily equals to a $2k retail commercial speaker system.
Other wise I'd suggest eBay for some good used speakers. Spica TC50 comes to mind. Vanderstine.
Parts Express and Madisound have some kits that are very attractive as well, have a very good driver compliment and require minimum technical skills for an assembly.

Thanks alot everyone. I will definitely look into DIY projects. Does anybody know of anyone who has had experience with the TST2s?
