Here are a few lines to try: KEF, PSB, Energy, Athena, B&W, NHT, Wharfedale, and Epos.

There's tons and tons more brands out there... but those brands are generally well recognized and reviewed. The most important thing is to listen... your choice in music, the equipment you put with them, and especially your room will change the sound of any speaker. So listen with music you know well, and try to listen on equipment very similar to what you'll use, and best of all see if you can take them home and try them for a few days.

A pricerange can help alot. Some companies are better at budget speakers, then others are better at a higher pricepoint. It goes on and on. For example, B&W makes great speakers. But, you pay for 'em. Their lower end models don't cut it for me. Polk Audio makes great MM(big box store) speakers. Athena makes great budget speakers. And the brands go on and on. So, how much you wana spend?

I'll toss out my three fav's RBH Sound, Totem Acoustic, and Opera Loudspeakers. All three are a little hard to find, but well worth an audition.

Speakers Revisited.

I really don't have a price range when it comes to speakers. I am new in that department. I usually bought systems with the speakers included and did not care much for it or how they worked, now I do care about the sound I listen to. I listen to R&B and Rock. I want good front speakers for the cd music along with a sub that matches for 2.1 sound. Then I want a good 5.1 package which makles movies very exciting. Any suggestions.

Considering prices for decent front speakers can range anywhere from $200 to $200,000 (literally), a price range is really helpful ;)

i agree that some idea of a budget is needed plus a little more info on what you would like your system to do as far as overall sound,do you want chest thumping bass, will you use a sub, what max listening level would you like to achieve.

if you plan on buying exotic or custom speakers(non big name store) then used is the only way to go,you can buy a 10k set of used speakers all day long for 1.5k:)

Bass Yes

I really do love chest thumping bass. I listen to R&B and love the bass. I will give you a price that I will spend on speakers. Is is approx. 1500.00. I know that's not much but that is what the budget is.

Thnaks guys and gals
