Hi
I am new to this forum and this is my first thread.
I have an old TX-SV424 Pro Logic Onkyo AV receiver, i have no idea which speakers would be best suited for this model, i was looking at a 3-way system(woffer, midrange and tweeters).
Here ares the amp specifications

6 Ohms Front 2x50 watt
8 0hms Center 1x50 watt
8 0hms Rear 2x15 watt

I want to know what speakers to get, how many Ohms, 6 or 8 Ohms and what should the wattage of those speakers be (woofers, midrange & tweeters)

please help me out.

Thanks

You need 8 Ohm nominal speakers.

I had a TX-SV525 and I remember that it was rated at 85 wpc. The 424 is one model below it and I think it is rated at 65 wpc.

Don't worry too much about power handling of the speakers. They are all conservatively rated and can usually take much more than their rating. Any speaker that you like the sound of and is rated to handle 50 wpc or so will be fine.

Edit: oops...I see you listed the Onkyo power rating at 50 wpc. I could have sworn it was slightly higher but we're talking about a receiver that was released in 1996. It was a good receiver in it's day. (My 525 is still going strong in my brother-in-laws garage). :)

Thanks for the prompt reply, i had a tough time deciding between 6 and 8 Ohms, happy to get that cleared. i am planning to custom make the 3 way speakers ( towers)
i was looking at 100 watt woofer, 50 watt midrange and 50 watt tweeter all @ 8Ohms. will that be alright?

Thanks.
